Yorkshire has the coast, the Dales, the Moors, the Wolds and cities with a bit about them. It also has hundreds of small businesses that make a day out worth having: surf coaches, sauna builders, bike mechanics, people who run a couple of chalets on the edge of a cliff.

Yorkshire Bookings exists to make booking with them as easy as booking with a big chain, without the big-chain cut. Visitors book direct. Businesses keep their customers, their data and their money. We take a small fee when someone books and pays online, nowt on bookings taken over the phone, and that's the whole model.

Three things we won't budge on:

• Remove barriers to growth. Free to start, no contracts, no jargon. Set up in an afternoon.
• Protect income and customer data. Payments go straight to the business through Stripe. Data is never sold. Security is built in, not bolted on.
• Be honest about the place. Reviews come only from real bookings. Eco credentials are declared, not invented.
